I recently retired from Pflugerville Independent School District. I was a Bilingual Educational Associate in the PPCD (Pre-Kinder Program for Children with Disabilities) for 15 years. Then moved to Human Resources Department for a year. The program is designed to help children with disabilities integrate themselves in a regular classroom with regular children or without disabilities. Our classroom was the first bilingual PPCD offered in PFISD, I alongside with the teacher planned lessons every week in English and Spanish, conducted classes in small groups and one on one. Conducted the required testing, in English and Spanish, collected and documented all data pertaining to each child that had an IEP. Experienced working with different types of disabilities such as: Autism, Down Syndrome, Mental Retardation, Speech, Children in Wheelchairs, Cerebral Palsy, feeding tubes, colposcopy bag, just to mention a few.
