As a Christian Mom of three grown and nearly sons, I know the support that another mom can be to a young family. I am so thankful for those women who were there for me. I have enjoyed many, many different roles throughout my career. I am now excited about the ability to work part-time with families as a caregiver, educator and support system. My background includes - Montessori preschool teacher - Licensed & certified care provider by State of Mo for infants - teens - Former Foster parent - Master's degree specializing in early childhood and child development - Family and child nonprofit services - College instruction - Writer of early childhood curriculum Typical week with your child would look like -- Every day, I would set a routine that would engage but stimulate the child to make the most of our time together. Each day would include reading Read more as children who are read aloud to, do much better in all academic areas. Plus, reading is just fun. We will read two or three books each day. But one book will be our theme book for the week. Then, we would do additional activities based on our theme. For example, If we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, each day we will do an activity that corresponds to the theme. Day 1: Art – make a caterpillar out of circles (teaching geometry and counting the circles).Day 2: Nature walk – look for caterpillars and where they might live.(Science & environment and physical activity) Day 3 – Dramatic Play – Act out the story. Retelling. (reading comprehension. Also,--dancing it out. Creative expression). Day 4 – Craft – Make a butterfly, (Science) Day 5 - Blocks – build caterpillars out of blacks. (Blocks teach spatial reasoning – math & science). Also, each day, there would be snack time and physical activity time and shaking our wiggles out and plenty of time for fun and being a kid. My talents: I am a very creative person and I enjoy drawing the creativity out of others. I am especially skilled at discovering a child's gifts and talents and nurturing those gifts and talents. Repeatedly, my talents have been in developing the socio-emotional intelligence and academic skills of children by increasing pre-literacy skills, vocabulary and school readiness through patience, love and individualized attention. My Driving Record: I have a clean driving record with no violations in over 25 years. (Speeding ticket in college - I am not perfect).
