I hold a B.S. degree in Nutrition in Business and Industry from Texas Woman’s University. For the past 2 1/2 years, I’ve been employed by the City of Dallas as a Nutritionist for the USDA program, WIC (Women, Infants, and Children). My primary role is to educate low-income families with children under 5 on childhood/maternal nutrition – via classes, recipes, individual counseling, etc. Prior to working with the City, I was the supervisor of the Product Quality department at a food science lab that tested food from national and international restaurants for pathogens (such as E.coli, Salmonella). Although I haven't directly cared for children since high school, I work with moms, babies, and toddlers every day, some with special needs & rare diseases and I'm extremely passionate about helping every mom address their concerns regarding their baby's development and health. During a couple of summers in high school, I cared Read more for a young toddler daily. Before that, I took care of twins (a boy & a girl). The girl had one leg amputated at birth so needed special care. I will have an incredibly flexible schedule. Although I’m not fluent, I do speak a decent amount of Spanish.
