A little about myself: Hi! I am Kari Jones-Shapley. I am 19 years old and from Ohio but currently reside in El Paso, TX with my husband (who is stationed at Fort Bliss) and our two pups, Charlie, who is a Dalmatian, and Otis, a German Shepherd. In addition, i am attending college at Park University for my Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies. When I’m not focusing on my studies I enjoy DIY projects, exercising, playing with my pups, enjoying time with my husband and watching my favorite tv shows! Before college I attended ECOT (Electronic Classroom of Tomorrow out of Columbus OH) an online homeschooling program. I was fortunate enough to graduate early (January of 2017) and begin college (March of 2017). During school I was a part of the National Honors Society, volunteered for JDRF as I have been a type-1 diabetic for 17 years, and took part in Read more my county's Junior Fairboard and 4-H program for 10 years. My passion for child care and style of babysitting: I grew up with younger siblings, so babysitting is something I am accustomed to. I began taking on babysitting jobs at 14, and continued to do so for 2 years as part-time. At 16, I began babysitting full-time for a local family. I was with this particular family for 2.5 years - until I moved to El Paso (August of 2017), to be with my husband who is in the army. Because I was homeschooled, I had the luxury of having more free time on my hands and this is what drew me towards babysitting/nannying. The job filled up the extra time I had and presented me valuable experiences and friendships for a life time. I enjoy schedules to follow so the child does not feel out of their element when their parents are not home. I like to do weekly crafts and keep them educationally engaged. I like to practice manners with the children and try to get them involved in clean up activities. I am comfortable with preparing meals (nutritious meals are my favorite) and administering medication if ever need. I am dependable and dedicated to each family I work for. I have a fairly flexible schedule and I am able to adapt. I am devoted to helping children think creatively, become problem solving individuals, and master manners and kindness.
