Hello! My name is Emery. I’m a 23 year old student at the University of Texas at Austin studying to be a future educator! I started babysitting casually at a young age, helping to watch younger children at family gatherings or in afterschool programs. I come from a long line of educators, so by the time I was in high school I knew beyond a doubt that I wanted to be a teacher too. I gained significant classroom experience as a high school student in the future educator's program that allowed me to work in a middle school special education classroom. Following my graduation from high school, while attending college at the University of Houston, I became a special education classroom substitute at the middle school where I worked on my class-free days until I transferred to UT. Now, as a Theatre Education major, I have extensively studied child psychology Read more and learned how best to engage, excite, and care for children. Additionally, I have spent nearly every summer since 2017 working as a camp counselor, with campers ages 6-15 years old, where I have learned to practically apply my academic knowledge in an upbeat and structured environment. I have always had a passion for working with kids and am a very creative and energetic caretaker. I love music and art and will make sure to have fun and creative activities planned everyday for your child. I am also open to suggestions or requests if there is something specific you would like me to work on with your child, such as reading, and I will make sure to incorporate it into my daily plans.
