Hello, I have 5+ year experience as a nanny and 2+ years as a personal assistant/household manager. My nanny experience was caring for children (including twins) ages newborn to 8 years old. I've worked with older children in church and such though. I've mostly worked for doctors and lawyers so I am familiar with the need for reliability, respect and confidentiality. I'm also a mother myself so I understand the amount of love, patience and structure that goes into each day. My main priorities while caring for the children is that they are safe, loved/happy & developing wonderfully both mentally and physically. I love to engage children and make sure that even though it seems like we are playing; they're actually learning all day too. My discipline methods are calm and understanding. Communication is key. I get on their level and we talk through it. "This is what we could Read more do better next time" or "this made me worried because so and so, let's try to do it this way next time" or "I wonder how you think we could try this in a different way?". I'm also aware that once a child reaches the point of a melt down where their congnitive brain is no longer in control that they need time to compose themselves before I can attempt to communicate. For my son in particular he throws play dough on the ground (tile eat to clean up) to both relax him like a stress ball plus get out frustration by throwing it. I adore children and watching them learn and grow into amazing people. I also know you dont want to come home to a dirty house that will take your attention off of your child.
