During the 2013-2014 academic school year I was both a before- and after- school counselor for my local YMCA. I am prepared for early day and working evenings since my days began at 6:00am and ended at 6:30pm with occasional childcare workshops that could go until around 9:00pm. I was in charge of supervising over 60 children in total while instructing them on various activities ranging from sports to academic lessons. A normal day consisted of ensuring the children's safety at all times during outdoor play, assisting with homework assignments and engaging the children in board/physical games or arts and crafts. This role also required me to obtain both my First Aid and CPR certifications. From 2012 until the start of summer 2014, I was in charge of overseeing a child aged 9 (now 11) on a regular basis. When in my care, I was in charge of assisting with Read more homework, making sure that she was fed, bathed and ready for bed. This experience led me to be comforted with late night and overnight child watching since I would occasionally be left in charge of her overnight. I also escorted her to many activities away from home and monitored her safety while engaging in exciting activities, such as attending NFL football games, going to the zoo on the busiest day of the year, or simply spending a day strolling through the outdoor malls and parks of our city. From this experience, I feel very comfortable driving children and watching for their safety. I recently completed my second summer of working as a live-in summer camp counselor in the great state of Wisconsin. This will be my second summer of living with over 19 thirteen-fourteen year old girls, monitoring their well beings, teaching them various activities during the course of the day and helping to instruct games to encourage learning and teamwork. I would be responsible for carpooling up to 15 children/adults at a time to/from camp. I was also responsible for driving 3 different horseback riding groups to their lessons at a nearby riding club. I pursuing a job as a nanny to be able to enrich the lives of children and their families. I love having the ability to see children grow throughout the year, day by day. I hope to gain the opportunity to learn and grow with a family, simply said.
