Over the past 6 years I have been responsible for taking care of 28 children and young adults. Their ages varied from 3 years- 20 years old. I have served in numerous roles including counselor, nanny, and peer mentor. I was a counselor for two years('06 & '07) where I looked over 10 girls ages 12-15, a nanny for 5 years(3 years consistent & 2 years during holidays and summer while I attended college.) I then served as a peer mentor in August of 2013 and will be finishing in August 2014. As a mentor I have mentored 8 women and 6 men. I began by babysitting when I was 13, but did not realize the value until 18. Not only was I just watching over someone 's child I was someone who they watched and were influenced by. I loved getting to see the children grow into themselves, be Read more a positive influence, and one of their biggest supporters. Getting to see some of the young adults actually step into their destiny is a blessing to me everyday, even if I was only just a little part of their story. All of the people I have had in my sphere of influence have changed me for the better and I am excited to continue learning as I step into this new season of moving to New York in August.
