I first became a caregiver for my father in law and saw him through his 4 final years. It was the most eye opening experience of my life. He lost the identity he had created through life's experiences (schooling, career & family) and reverted back to childhood. He stopped being my dad and was simply a wonderful little boy who wanted to watch the birds, read poetry and play cowboys with me. During that same period, I was also working as a personal chef and when he passed, I immersed myself completely in the culinary world. I desperately missed the connection and the responsibility of caregiving. So when I moved to Utah, I began caring for children of friends going through challenges. Now I'm hopelessly hooked.
