My name is Kristy and I am a 24 year old teacher looking for extra side work to pay back student loans.I have worked with children for majority of my life and find it very fulfilling! I am a certified PE and Health teacher for grades K-12 and I have my Teaching License in 3 states(VA, WV and PA).Last year I taught at Laurel Hill Elementary School in Fairfax County, VA. However, I moved back after the school year to save on rent and try to tackle my student loans. Unfortunately, I was unable to find a full time position for the 2016-2017. However, with Sittercity I am able to offer my services and still do what I love. I also have been coaching Field Hockey at my former High School (St.Huberts). I have an extensive background with working with children of all ages! For the past 2 summers I Read more was a full time nanny for 3 different families in Gainesville VA. At times I would watch up to 9 children at once. The joke was that it became ''Miss Kristy's summer camp''. I also babysat for these families on school holidays, date nights and occasionally after school. During the days I watched my kids we would take field trips all over Northern VA and engage in outdoor activities, kayak, bike, we would spend time at the Community Pool and Park, have picnics at James Long Park, partake in arts and crafts or go on hikes while we were playing ''Pokemon Go''. Every day was a new experience and adventure and I was able to grow as a teacher by working with them! In December of 2014, I graduated from WVU with a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education/Health Teacher Education.During my coursework I spent multiple semesters teaching students of various grades, ages and learning abilities. Some key factors of coursework were that I spent 2 semesters co-teaching PE for grade levels 2 and 5, one semester teaching locomotor skills to toddlers and pre schoolers on campus, 2 semesters teaching accredited college level sport classes and 2 semester working with students with disabilities in our adaptive PE program. While enrolled, I worked at a before/after school program called Kidematics at two Elementary Schools where our main focus was engaging the kids in structured play. After I graduated, while job searching, I worked Full Time at a Government operated Pre School for 5 months as an Assistant Teacher in addition to Kidematics At the Pre School I spent most of my time working with the 2.5-3 yr old class and the 4+ class. Outside of my program I have other additional experience.
