I always enjoyed being around kids, but it was until 2008 when I got a the opportunity to realize the importance and the wonderful world of childhood. I came as an Au Pair with a wonderful family that year and after some time working with the kids, I knew I want to keep working and learning from and with them. I’m been very blessed for working with great people in this past 10 years; my host family, The Corbetts, with whom I worked for 2 years; without their love and support my life would be in a completely different path. I cared for their 3 children (ages 3 months, 2, and 4). My duties included preparing healthy meals, driving them to lessons, activities, and appointments as well as arranging play dates for them. My favorite thing was helping them learn and develop. In the second year I accompanied them when Read more they moved to Norfolk, VA. The Cultural Care program was limited to two years, so after that I returned to the DC area with my fiancé (now husband) and began working for Julia P and her son Rafael. This was a temporary position while they waited for the arrive of Rafael Grandmother. I then began working for the Kolp-West family shortly after that starting in 2012 when their daughter was 3 months old. Two years later the Kolp-West family grew and I began taking care of their son when he was 3 months old. One of my favorite parts is helping them learn, particularly Spanish. The children are now practically bilingual. It’s been six years and the two children are about to both be in school full-time, so I am looking for a new family to care for and grow with. In addition to my personal experience with the children I have completed child care classes through Arlington County as well as first aid/CPR course through Fairfax County.
