Hello there! My name is Dana, and I have about 4 years of experience working with children. In this time, I served families as a tutor, a babysitter, and a day-camp counselor at a local YMCA. I am CPR, First Aid, and AED certified. I have experience working with children who have special needs, particularly attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism, and Asperger's syndrome. For one family, I picked up their two children, ages 7 and 14 up from school, fed them a snack while we talked about their day to let them get some energy out, and then started on homework. Both children had ADHD, so I was primarily hired to help out the children focus and get their homework done. I found some tricks that helped, such as having the little one jump up for every letter when he was practicing his spelling words. Read more I also worked with the older child, helping her with study and focus tips, and ultimately gain confidence.
