My Background Information: As a Tutor: I have an extensive background within education. I was an instructor in the Kumon Learning Center (Alexandria VA Branch). There I started off as a tutor in high school and became a 'Junior Kumon Instructor' within my three years working there. I tutored many grade levels ranging from kindergarten to high school but mainly taught a group of kids within the age range of 4-12 years old. Furthermore, during my high school career I was selected to be a Writing Center Tutor for Thomas A. Edison HS where I was in charge of meeting with faculty & tutoring peers within a variety of subjects that ranged from Physics to Literature. I also have experience Private Tutoring children at their homes and at local libraries. I have private tutored a total amount of 4 kids within the subjects of History, Math, Writing & Reading. As Read more a Babysitter: I have babysat since my Middle School days which includes infants, toddlers and elementary-aged children. My recent job was a full-time nanny for the Shanoski Family where I babysat a little girl who was 1 year old & I worked with them for one year before moving away for college. I like to share a bond with the families I work with--to this day, I still babysit this little girl (who is now 3 years old) every now and again. Also, I have babysat some evenings & days for families who only needed me for 'date nights' and other events. My Personality: I come from a fairly big family wherein I was able to experience taking care of children at young age. Hence, it is my most natural environment. I love children and pets. I am a current student at JMU where I am majoring in Speech Pathology & minoring in Special Ed. I attended Northern VA Community College before transferring to JMU. I am a very passionate person who loves to be involved with many things. I have been in officer positions within clubs such as SGA and Key Club. I have also been a part of many volunteer groups such as Leadership and the Arc Canteen Workshop for Disabled Individuals in Harrisonburg, VA. I am bilingual since I can speak English & Tagalog fluently. Since I have taken Spanish throughout middle school up until college, I can vaguely understand Spanish as well. I love to be active and engaged with all kinds of people that I meet and work with. I like to think of myself as an optimistic, social and kind person.
