Qualifications and experience: I have spent 7 consecutive summers working in a summer camp/daycare environment, as an Assistant Teacher. Just a few of my responsibilities included supervising multiple children at a time on my own, ensuring their safety, and maintaining order in the classroom, while keeping each child engaged in the group activities. I facilitated teaching, demonstrated good leadership skills, and earned the respect of every child by coming up with creative ways to both instill order and diminish chaos in the classroom. Why I became a caregiver: I went into childcare because of my love for children, and my desire to see each child reach their full potential. I thrive under that kind of responsibility and always enjoy a good challenge. I’ve always been able to understand children and teenagers quite well, and I love making a positive, lasting influence on a child’s life in any way I can. Read more A little more about me: I’ve traveled extensively for a 24 year old. I took a gap-year in between my freshman and sophomore year of college and dedicated it to traveling. I did some missions work in the U.S., and then went on a 2 week missions trip to Moscow. During that trip, I got the amazing opportunity to work with orphans in an orphanage and do women’s ministry work. Later that same year, I did a 5-week solo tour throughout Europe, and stayed with family friends. I traveled to Siegen, Germany for 2 weeks, Marseilles, France for 1 week and Italy for 10 days. That was all for pleasure, and it was fantastic! A year later, I went on a 2-week class trip to France, where we visited Paris and Nantes, and spent most of our time in Nantes. I also spent 3 semesters studying Theology at a Bible college: 1 of the 3 semesters was spent in Hawaii, and the other 2 were spent in York, England. My love of traveling has taught me so much about different cultures and also how to adapt very quickly to my surroundings. Other things I love besides working with kids and traveling are: reading, making coffee (I worked as a Barista in England), art, design, theater, singing, and spending time with my friends and family here in Seattle.
