Hello, my name is Jaylin Naccarato and I am a 20 year old who is currently enrolled in my first semester and Washington State University's College of Nursing. Hailing from a very large Italian family, I have been around children all of my life. And, as my family strictly adheres to the "it takes a village to raise a child" mantra I have also nearly constantly cared for nieces, nephews, cousins, and the like ranging in all shapes, sizes, and ages. In a more professional sense, I also spent about a year as a volunteer as the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery in downtown Spokane. Dealing with these children who come from various family and economic situations truly solidified my belief that when children are given room to grow and a safe environment there is no telling what they can accomplish. My duties at the nursery besides watching after the children Read more ranging in ages from 0-6 years old was some light cleaning duties, meal time, and preparation for bedtime. I hope to take the skills I acquired at the nursery in dealing with children in high-risk situations and be able to translate then into my future career as a pediatric or NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) nurse. I have always been very fond of children and look forward to my life's work of providing emotional and medical support enabling them to live their lives to the fullest. I have no official certifications but a lifetime of bee-stings to bedtimes have afforded me with many experiences in dealing with children and as of August 20, 2014 I will be CPR certified.
