Greetings, One of my favorite passions in life over the last 12 years has been teaching and working with youth and families in different capacities. Becoming an extension of the family, creating positive relationships, while supporting the care and development of the child. My goal is to work collaboratively with the parents to create a uniform approach toward the education and care of the children. To be one unit, holistic in nature, for a long term approach to caring for the children’s development. My strength in proactive communication with parents about their child’s development and care is documented in letters of rec. I would love to share from parents I have worked with. EXPERIENCE I was the lead toddler teacher of a 10 child classroom of 2 and 3 year olds for over 2 years. Montessori is a teaching philosophy that emphasizes respect for the child, it is a developmentally Read more appropriate, child-centered, play-based philosophy that promotes independence. I created an inclusive environment where toddlers gained new skills and confidence. I planned, implemented and assessed each child’s physical, cognitive and social emotional development and gave them care as an individual. In addition, I also successfully potty-trained dozens of children. I have been a 1 on 1 support teacher for a child who is autistic non-verbal. I have worked with several sets of twins over the last twelve years, always making sure that they are supported and cared for as individuals. EDUCATION I have a Bachelor’s degree from Washington State University in Human Development, with Emphasis in Early Childhood Development and Care. (Prenatal to 8 years). This allows me to assess the physical, cognitive and social-emotional development and needs of a child as an individual and create fun, meaningful engaging activities that promote development for them. I have a Montessori birth to 3 years teaching certificate from the North American Montessori center. In addition, I have taken courses in special education, teaching and learning, sign language, psychology, nutrition and women’s studies. I have a current Adult and Pediatric first aid, CPR certification, food handlers permit and tuberculosis test, and influenza shot. I would be willing to complete any additional training or certification that you wish to see in a nanny.
