My name is Lorial Yeadon. I am a 19 year old, rising Sophomore at the University of Virginia. I was constantly under care of a nanny during my childhood which has made me want to nanny, because I know that nannies and babysitters tend play an important role in children's lives because parents usually need some kind of assistance. Although nannies may not be viewed as having the most difficult job I understand the importance of this role and the belittled hardship that goes along with it. This and the fact that I love to play with kids are the main reasons I have planned to spend my summer nannying/ babysitting in the Seattle area. I have experience babysitting my own sisters since I was young. I have one sister who is 3 years younger than me and another who is 6 years younger than me. In the past I Read more have cooked, cleaned, and provided transpiration for my younger sisters in order to help my parents in any way possible. I also have experience watching my baby cousin this last year. He is now turning 2 so he has given me experience with young children who need to be fed on schedule, diaper changes, and cradling. At school, my sorority's philanthropy focuses on service for sight, so I have worked with blind children on several occasions. I have worked with these kids on arts and crafts activities and other games the kids can play without the use of sight. This experience has given me a chance to work with kids with special needs and taught me the patience skills that are required when working with kids with special needs. Lastly, I have worked with kids in an athletic setting. I have experience as an assistant tennis coach for kids between ages 5-9. I am also currently working as a volleyball assistant coach for middle school girls in my area. These experiences have taught me how to have fun with kids while making sure they stay safe.
