Meet Nicole

• Comfortable with pets

When I was still just a child myself I was always looking for opportunities to care for children. When I was just barely old enough, I begged my mom to sign me up for courses at our community center for babysitting, first aid, and food handling. When I was in middle school a family I regularly cared for went so far as to pay for me to be a travel nanny on their vacation. As I grew up I realized that I had a second passion: Art. I got a bachelors degree from the University of Washington in Interdisciplinary visual arts, and have been looking for opportunities to share my unique perspectives and methods of art making with children. Children are unique in art-making because they have no preconceived notions yet of what something SHOULD look like, and I have always found this fascinating. I have worked in retail for Read more more than two years now. For a good chunk of that time I was at The Home Depot, and there I was lucky enough to get to run the monthly Kids Clinic in which we helped kids create fun projects. This only reaffirmed my interest in working with kids, especially in an artistic way. However, children do need variety! I also love to play outside, can make the best paper airplane in the world, have my own collection of wonderful children's books, love to bake, am very environmentally conscious, and am not afraid to get a little messy (but I'm also great at cleaning up!). I also have a huge love of gardening and animals! I am currently looking to update my certifications such as first aid and food handling, but I do have a good background in them already. I have a clean driving record but as of right now am relying on public transportation. I have completely clean criminal and work record.
