I've been babysitting since 2000. I started nannying in the summer of 2006 and have been working with children off and on since then, depending on my school schedule. I am currently a graduate student at SPU and I work part-time as a Graduate Research Assistant for one of the professors in my program. I have the time and energy for part-time work--so now I am looking to supplement my research job with babysitting work. Currently, I have evening classes on SPU's campus three days per week (M, T, Th) that run 5:30-8:30pm. I have set research assistant commitments from 10-11am every other Wednesday and noon-2pm every other Thursday. Other than those commitments I am very flexible. Taking care of children, playing with them, laughing with them, encouraging them, and learning with them is a valuable part of any person's life--and I find a lot of joy in these experiences. They will each rejuvenate me in unique ways, and the energy and passion gained in one will overflow into the other. I believe that this will benefit the children I am working with, in addition to making me a better student. Below I am outlining my experiences from babysitting, nannying, and daycare work: • Emphasized love and compassion in all interactions to offer a supportive environment for growth and building trust in relationships. • Respected children’s individual interests, supporting them as they worked to satisfy their curiosity, grow cognitively, and explore their own creativity. • Regularly invented new games and came up with new arts and crafts ideas. • Planned daily outings and activities, often requiring transportation. • Offered plenty of occasions for children to stay physically active by initiating games and activities that involve lots of movement. • Prepared meals and snacks, adhering to dietary and health requests noted by parents. • Assisted with light house work and errand running as needed. • Helped resolve disagreements between children when needed. • Maintained a caring and positive environment to foster friendships, personal growth, and creativit
