I have an education in psychology and chemical dependency counseling, with a background working as a nanny, a lead teacher, a stay-at-home-mom for 12 years, substance abuse counselor, a counselor for at-risk youth and a certified flight attendant. I have volunteered as a girl-scout leader, auction assistant to help benefit the homeless, various food banks and most recently as a judge for my sons debate tournaments. My hobbies include wildlife rescue, yoga, quilting, hiking, baking, volunteering, crafting, reading, bowling and camping. I have a 20 yr old son who is away at college a 22-year-old daughter who is soon to be married! Since I am a mom, I have had years of experience with my own children and have already made all the newbie mistakes with them... so your baby would be in good hands now, lol.. My personal preference for child raising was always the attachment style, such as Read more co-sleeping and breastfeeding and I'm one of those crazy people who like to eat mostly organic, mostly healthy and make my own baby foods, breads, jams ect. That being said, I respect each families individual preferences and would never try to push "my ways" onto you. I will always do my best to communicate and make sure I have a clear understanding of how you want your child cared for. That being said, I will never spank a child, even if requested by the parents. (Sorry, but that's a deal-breaker for me). I believe in educating a child as to the "why's" and not punishing them for being naturally curious. When some sort of consequence for negative behavior is needed and talking about it doesn't work, (eg: child keeps hitting family dog even after being asked not to and explaining why), I prefer to give the child time-out or redirect their attention elsewhere. After 6 years of counseling addicts, I am currently seeking a career change. My heart is pulling me back to working with children, and I am also working towards my wildlife rehabbed certification. I did briefly work as a nanny for two incredible boys just a few months prior to lock-down, but unfortunately the pandemic circumstances didn't allow that to continue as long as I had hoped. Now that I am double-vaccinated, I am ready to find another wonderful family to work with. I look forward to meeting you and having the opportunity to prove that my experiences would be a good fit for what you are looking for. Crystal
