I started working at a daycare/preschool about a year ago. Starting off, I had little to no experience in kids (except with occasional babysitting + Sunday school teachers assistant), but they gave me a position nonetheless even though I was a rookie. I started off as a substitute, covering other people's shifts. Over time I proved myself with strong work ethic and enthusiasm working with the kids and was given a full-time teachers position in the toddler room (ages 18-30 months). The toddler classroom(s) had around 20-25 children total throughout the day, so being on top of everything at all times was a must! I have worked with all age groups, but I'd say that the toddler age is where most of my knowledge lies at. I love the toddler age group because they're fun, energetic, and getting into that independent stage where they're exploring the world around them! I think there is a lot to learn when working with children and everyday will bring something new and exciting. The best part about working with children is when they make a new discovery or are taught something new their entire face lights up with excitement, it really makes you feel like you're making a difference in this world! I am cpr/first aid certified, have my food handlers card, and am willing to get anything else that is necessary.
