I am a recent graduate from the College of St. Scholastica where I received a B.S. degree in Exercise Physiology and hope to continue my education by applying to an occupational therapy program. I have experience in the healthcare field through my college courses, observational hours in occupational therapy, internship in an exercise facility, CPR/AED/First Aid certification, and job experience as a personal care assistant. While I normally have been a babysitter for family friends, my experience as a personal care assistant was for disabled individuals--namely school-age children. My previous job as a PCA may not be typical nanny material but I found similarities: meal preparation, providing required care to client needs, personal hygiene assistance, incorporating social learning opportunities, create engaging activities, and behavior directing to my clients who were of school age. What I find to be strong characteristics within myself are patience, creativity, strong internal motivation, effective communicator, Read more and active listener. I am great with children at any age based on my past experiences and am always trying to find the fun (with some educational lessons thrown in).
