I am currently serving as a drama and art teacher through AmeriCorps at Rowe Elementary School in Chicago. I teach 22 classes per week, engaging students from kindergarten through 7th grade, class sizes ranging from 12-30 students. I often work individually with students that have specific behavioral needs, especially in my kindergarden classes. Because our school is completely integrated, I work hands-on with students with Autism, ADHD and Oppositional Defiant Disorder on a daily basis. Beyond the classroom, I also run a weekly after-school program of 15 students as well as organize volunteer projects for my students as well as adults to give back to our community. Previously, I worked for After-School All-Stars Columbus. I served as a Program Leader at an inner-city middle school leading 30-40 students through after school programming involving tutoring, sports and enrichment (art, cooking, computer skills, etc.) lessons. I also worked two consecutive summers at Read more Columbus School for Girls Summer Programs as a morning instructor and afternoon camp counselor. I taught Playwriting, Comic Book Making and Beginning Acting to classes of 10-30 4th through 8th graders. In afternoons, I led groups of 3rd through 6th graders in field trips and activities. I am a trained facilitator for the Shakespeare and Autism Program, developed by Kelly Hunter of the Royal Shakespeare Company, London. I worked with 5 6th grade students with autism on activities involving text from "The Tempest" in order to develop their social and emotional skills. I am CPR and first aid certified (both adult, child and infant). I am creative, energetic, engaging and patient. I received my BA in Theatre and Studio Art from The Ohio State University in 2014 with a focus in Performance and New Work. My activities beyond my work include acting, singing, painting, hiking and cooking. I am a detail-oriented planner and organizer. After my experiences in education, I am ready to utilize my unique skill set within a family as a nanny! I am devoted to creating a safe, encouraging and loving space for the children I serve.
