Hello everyone! My name is Kelcy LePlavy. In 2009, I graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. After graduation, I became a first grade teacher in Freeport, IL. I taught there for 3 more years (1 in first grade and 2 in kindergarten). In 2013, I got engaged and moved to Reeseville, WI so that my husband could begin a new career with Michels Corporation. With this new adventure in a new state, I accepted a job at an up and coming preschool in Lake Mills, WI- Little Woodland Preschool. I became the lead preschool teacher and helped start a Reggio-inspired childcare center. My role as a teacher was to construct a safe, loving, and fun environment that promoted exploration and discovery. My lessons were child-driven through my daily observations and documentation of my preschoolers involved in active play. I was simply a guide in Read more their learning- guiding their discovery further through questioning and playing along with them. I continued working as the lead preschool teacher (a co-teacher was added to my room in 2015) until May of this year. In May 2016, I became a mommy to a beautiful little girl named Mara. I have been privileged to stay at home with her the entire summer while my husband goes to work. I have been given the opportunity to return as the preschool teacher at Little Woodland Preschool in the fall, but I am finding that it is not the best decision financially. My daughter would be attending the childcare center as well in the infant room. After reviewing my rates as well as the tuition for my daughter to attend, we have decided that it is not the best financial decision. I would like to stay at home with my daughter for the school year, but would also like to watch one or two 3-4 or four year olds. I know that I could provide these children with an experience just like in a preschool setting. I would provide hands on learning in which they would discover and explore many new things.
