Hello! My name is Carrie and I am currently an educational sign language interpreter at a school in the southwest WI area. However, I have had previous experience providing childcare to children from birth to 14, since I was 15-years-old, and most of my experience took place when I was in high school and throughout my college years. My responsibilities have included getting kids ready for the day, cooking meals, driving children to activities and lessons, reading stories, helping with homework, playing games, providing nap time, etc. I previously stated that I am an educational sign language interpreter. While that may not exactly entail being a childcare provider, I do work with a hard of hearing student on a daily basis, providing sign language interpretation to them. Along with the classroom teacher, my job is to provide access to all learning and communication to the D/HH student, which I feel Read more is a very key role. I have a strong passion for working with children and believe a child's success in life begins with their education. Being an educational interpreter does not mean I only interpret. I also advocate for the student's needs and provide support to the student, which includes being a listener. Outside of being an educational interpreter, I love caring for children. I've always known that I want to have children and have a job that works with them. Although I do not have any of my own yet, I have babysat and nannied for many family members' and friends' children since I was 15. You can usually find me at family gatherings/parties, holding babies or playing with and entertaining kids. You may ask what I think is important or key to being a good childcare provider. I think being caring, kind, trustworthy, punctual, flexible, having patience, being a good listener and communicator, having a positive attitude, and developing a trusted relationship with the kids and parents are some of the requirements it takes to be a good nanny or babysitter.
