My most memorable babysitting experience has been with a pair of twin boys. I began caring for them when I was 14 and I really just wanted some extra money to grow my Smucker's lip balm collection, but later on as I matured and learned about priorities (thank god) I put my babysitting money towards slides for my microscope (science rules!). Back to the twins - I grew with them although I spent only late afternoons and some weekends with them. Their mom would tell me they'd repeat my name in their sleep! I stayed with them until I was 17 and moved on to college. I loved these boys; one of them was born with a leg malformation, and had to use a brace, but observing him run as best as he could, and the compassion that his twin brother had even as a baby, was priceless. As is Read more often the case, I went in thinking that I'd teach them a few things, but it was really me who learned and was substantially bettered. I have more experience caring for children under 5, but I also enjoy interacting with older kids and appreciate their more developed communication abilities. Based on how I get along with friends' siblings and my little cousins, I can adapt to any age - Oh, and they think I'm still "cool", too : ) I also love volunteering with children overseas, but I won't advocate for world peace in this forum : ) Hope to hear from you soon!
