Madeline’s Bio
Hiya, all my life I have owned several animals including cats, dogs, chickens, quail, rabbits, parakeets, cockatiels, fish, hedgehogs, guineas, and turkeys. I have had to deal with an assortment of quirks throughout the years, and have picked up quite a bit about animal care. I am currently going to college for a pre-veterinary degree in Zoology, and hope to one day become a veterinarian or something similar. I love caring for animals, and have never been afraid to get my hands dirty. I was the kid that got excited over snakes and tried to scoop them up. I have also dealt with sick animals. Last spring I took in a fledgling Robin, and although in the end it was too weak, I fed it every twenty minutes from dawn til dusk for five days. I believe its death was from internal injuries. My hedgehog, named Deuce, has always been a finicky animal and I have had to go way out of my way to keep him a happy, healthy animal. When I first got him I learned he was allergic to his new bedding, and hence had to switch that out then bathe him in a hydrating, healing mash of oatmeal and some sort of oil. (It's been two years, I can't remember the specifics.) Not long afterwards he began quilling, which required even more of the oatmeal solution, and let me tell you something about my hedgehog. Bath time is not fun time. Then he started to have digestive problems from his food. Me, being a trooper, had to hold a squirming ball of angry quills while attempting to put lubricant on his tender anus. Not fun, but he's a very happy, healthy hedgehog today. He is going on two and a half years, and boy do I love him. Of course, I also have a lot of experience with dogs and cats. My family owns five dogs, five cats, and a clutch of kittens who need homes. Three of our dogs are rescues, taken from abusive homes by other animal lovers, and two of our cats have come from equally bad places. When I see an animal in need, I can't help myself. Whether it was the time my dog sank his teeth into a baby turtle's shell, or the time said dog swallowed a bone and had to be comforted while the bone was removed from his unmentionables, I am definitely experienced when dealing with critters. Not to mention I'm really good at going on long walks and scratching their necks and telling them I love them. Sorry for how long this is, just really want to give an overview of my qualifications.
