As a single working mother, I raised my daughter with all animals and fun responsibilities. We had a Koi pond, chickens, a cat that lived to 18yrs., a large dog that lived to 16yrs., then not to add to that, my daughter decided in grade school that she wanted rats, two females.

Then when my parents would leave for extended times they would bring over their Amazon parrot. All animals got along well and knew their boundries with respect, with the exception of the parrot, which did not like anyone.
