Hi! I am a 53 years old and have lots of experience with pets. As a child we always had a dog and we also raised Siamese cats. I have been rescuing and welcoming cats and dogs in to my home as an adult for over 30 years. My first rescue was a stray calico cat whom I named "Boo-Boo Kitty" and since then I have had several cats and multiple dogs. "Abbie" was a black English Lab rescued from the Guilford dog pound in 1994 and was with me for 10 years until she became ill. During that time we became Delta Certified Pet Partners who visited nursing homes and also participated in the Paws to Read program where children improved their reading skills and confidence by reading to Abbie. Abbie was briefly joined by a stray yellow lab and then a white German Shepard whom I fostered while finding them new homes. I then adopted "Shorty" the mini-Dachshund in 2001 followed by "Daisy", also a mini-Dachshund, in 2005. Over the years I have worked with Donna from Details in Old Saybrook on training and certification. I have also owned and cared for fresh-water fish tanks and livestock. I have excellent references and you can be assured your pet(s) will be in good hands.
