Hi! My name is Katie Bird, I'm 18 years old and I currently study Biology in the honors program at University of Delaware. I'm a long time animal lover and over the years have had a wide variety of pets including a dog, cat, frog, numerous birds, lizards and a rabbit. Currently I'm the proud owner of two parrots, a Red Headed Amazon and a Severe Macaw.

The summer before my 9th grade year I was a working student at a local stable, where I took care of the horses and did farm yard chores in exchange for riding and horse training lessons.

While in high school I took four years of animal science courses, all of which required that I gain hands-on experience with a variety of domestic animals, from house pets like cats and dogs, to large livestock like horses and cows. I also observed at a veterinary clinic for some time, learning basic veterinary procedures and watching surgeries. Additionally, I was an active member of my school's agricultural organization, FFA. I competed numerous times on the Veterinary Science team and placed 3rd in the state for this competition.

Last winter I also assisted my neighbor as a mother's helper where I helped clean her house and watch her children. One of my additional duties was to take care of her three cats. I was responsible for feeding them and managing their litter boxes.

While I don't have extensive experience with pet sitting specifically or any formal certifications, my passion for and knowledge of animals will ensure your pets quality care while you're away!
