My first pets were fish when I was 7 years old, and I had those for several years. From when I was 11 until 17, I had three hamsters and a bearded dragon. I also pet-sit for my friend's rats and gerbils in my own home during this time. I started pet-sitting in others' homes when I was 18, and did so many times until I left my hometown for Iowa in late 2010. During this time I took care of all dogs, including pugs and larger breeds, but I also visited my local animal shelter to socialize with cats. I love animals and especially enjoy creating a special bond with them in order to keep both of us happy.

At the moment, I have no pets, as my landlord does not allow them in my house. I have decided to pet-sit so I can experience the joys of animal care without violating my lease.

I love walking dogs, as it is a great way for both of us to get the exercise we need to stay healthy. I will also walk other animals if they are leash trained. Additionally, I listen carefully to owners when they discuss certain ways or places the animal likes to be scratched and games they enjoy so I can implement them into my care. Others have told me I am good at calming down upset animals, and I think this is partially due to my knowledge of trauma response and autism. I really enjoy knowing that I can contribute to an animal's safe and comforting environment.
