Lauren’s Bio

I work PT at a new bookstore in Logan Square (City Lit Books), which leads me with extra time. I have my own transportation (bike) and really looking for anyone in the neighborhood or surrounding areas.
I have been a caregiver since I was about ten years old. My dad is a hunting man and we've only strictly have had German Shorthaired Pointers, these dogs love to run, they just never stop! When my dad was out on business trips I was the one responsible for taking care of them. This meant feeding twice a day, giving them their medicine as a few got older, grooming, cleaning out their kennels/dog room, and of course lots and lots of attention! I have picked up certain obedience skills over the years, primarily more of the "hunting spectrum", but more or less it's teaching your pet patience and good manners. Prime example, throwing around a toy, or in my instance a "dummy bird", while keeping the dog froze until the command is released. Have any problems getting your dog to actually retrieve the ball when playing fetch, I can help work on that! Currently I visit the homestead to take care of our last German Shorthair, Hunter.
I've also taken care of smaller dogs, Miniature Pinchers! My number one rule, NO HUMAN FOOD! If you ever let these little guys a small taste, they are sneaky and snappy. Bad manners can arise like snatching food out of owners hands. If you have kids, these are manners you DO NOT want your pets to have. Snappy attitudes can lead to poor patience, and when little children want to play and haven't gained the right do's and don'ts with animals yet, this is all a set up for a snip in the face. Smaller dogs do need to be let out more frequently, and may even need more walks to really tire out their incredible metabolism.
In addition to dogs, I own two precious cats! They're more of an outdoor-farm type, but they still need the in-house upkeep. Cleaning out their litter box, feeding, grooming, and lots of love! Ariel and Boots are two sisters that cannot be separated. I miss them so much, they live back in the country now, too many plans of getting outdoors! Number one scare of mine is the cats getting outside, those two tough cats would no doubt try to take on any alley rats any day, yikes!

Thanks for your time and consideration, can't wait to meet your pets!

Lauren took really good care of our dog Layla while we were on vacation in January. Layla even needed eye drops everyday (due to surgery) and Lauren was great in ensuring that the drops were administered. When we used a kennel in the past, we would come back to a very anxious and stressed out dog. However, after staying with Lauren, Layla was calm and relaxed.
