Kylie’s Bio

Dear Pet Parents,

My name is Kylie, and I want to help you provide the best care possible for your pets! I've been an enthusiastic animal lover since I was young and am always eager to help out a busy or traveling pet parent. Growing up in a rural/suburban area, I was always taking in abandoned litters and nursing them back to health until they were old enough for adoption and I've been cat and dog sitting for neighbors since I was 12. While attending The University of Missouri, I volunteered at the Central Missouri Humane Society, making sure the animals got the attention and love they needed while waiting for their forever homes. I've always been an advocate for animals and sticking up for our furry friends who don't have a voice of their own.

I am an extremely patient person and find this very valuable while working with animals. I believe animals learn best through positive reinforcement in environments where incentives and directions are clear, consistant, and noncontradictory. Sometimes this takes time, but that's OK! While on walks or in homes with anxious pets, I'm constantly on the lookout for signs of stress or over-excitment so I can redirect the animals attention into a positive activity before a problem ever manifests. I've learned form walking dogs who like to bark at fellow canines and cats who don't get along, that distracting them with more play time or a simple task is the best way to avoid situations and nurture more amiable behavior.

I am also an energetic person who loves hiking and moving around so if you want your dog or dogs to get a little bit of a workout, I'm happy to take them for a jog or an off-leash hike if they are familiar with and behave well in such situations. Off leash hikes will cost a bit more, but a once a week romp on a trail is a great way to keep your dogs both mentally and physically healthy. The same goes for cats who will get playtime and a brushing with every visit. Cats need play time too in order to expend excess energy and stimulate their minds to prevent disruptive behavior. Of course if you have an older animal I am happy to slow down the pace and make sure they are always comfortable and don't feel strained or over exerted.

Whether you want your dogs walked in groups, or prefer a solo walk, I'm happy to work with you and your pets needs! I also have a hardcopy FBI background check instead of this site's "enhanced badge."

Look forward to hearing from you,
Kylie
