Pam’s Bio
Hello. I love dogs and have absolutely no certifications around dogs. I had no idea there were such a thing for a dog sitter. OK - one with Monty - see below.
I grew up with an English Setter-Brandy. She was the family's 3rd daughter. My husband and I adopted a cairn terrier from a woman entering a nursing home-Gus. He looooooved to chase squirrels and could catch popcorn coming out of the hot air popper. I will admit a failure with Java who was a sweet lab who ate poo. We tried medicine, correction, training, but with a 12 month old in the house who would pick up balls that smelled like the poo Java ate, the dog had to go. But she went to a family with a fenced in yard and kids in grade school, so all ended well. I still feel a bit of failure. Son is 25.
Then there was Rocky - a strong willed, field Golden and where I learned the difference between a field and show Golden. He was given to us at 7 weeks, and was wonderful with us and our young son as he and his friends grew. Lots of ball playing in the yard where Rocky always won in football. Went through a lot of balls.
A few months ago we put down Monty, an English Cocker Spaniel, that we had for his 12 years. A real sweet heart that didn't meet a person or dog he didn't like. He and I became licensed therapy givers so I could take him to see my elderly parents in whatever hospital, nursing home, etc they were located in.
So all these dogs. What gives? I am an energetic 65 year old who just retired, goes to the local gym each day, volunteers with hospice and kids associated with DCF, but I still need more. Dogs have always been part of my life, but we are not getting a new dog immediately and probably not for a while. So I miss the kisses and belly rubs and walks.
I could fill book about dogs but there aren't many characters left.
