Animals have been part of my life since- well, I suppose I was born into a family of animal lovers. All of us have a spirit of understanding; gentleness and patience. It's not a "job" for us, it's a joy and commitment. I am a mature (over 50) mother of three older children; they are available to help me as needed (under my supervision) whether that be lifting a 50 lb bag of grain, playing ball with a dog, bottle nursing a llama, light housekeeping, or young childcare. Fond of all creatures great and small, those I have covered include (*astericks indicate those owned by myself or family): cats*, dogs,* horses*, llamas*, goats*, sheep*, pigs*, turkeys*, ducks*, chickens*, guinea fowl*, capons*, bantams*, mice*, gerbils*, hamsters*, guinea pig, parakeets, African grey parrots, Betta fish*, goldfish*, aquatic turtles*, tree crabs, anoli's. Aside from a BS in zoology and a strong (graduate) background in medicine and biology, I have a high comfort level with most species. I am also a pet owner and COMPLETELY relate to the worries that can develop when separated from your loved one- as well as understanding expectations for cleanliness and LISTENING to the pet owner. Light housekeeping and disposal of "doggy business" (or shoveling :) is accepted as part of the job. Experience medicating dogs, cats, and goats with oral medications or subQ injections. I own both a pickup truck and large SUV if there is need to transport your pet or pick up feed. Very flexible with schedule and reasonable regarding compensation. Long term, year round resident of Woods Hole and Falmouth. Mature, loving, quiet, responsible, reliable, honest, and meticulous with respect to safety and security. The rates listed are provided as a reference (they are required fields in the application) but I would be happy to discuss with respect to level of difficulty, special needs, and temperament and size of the animal. For ex, handling a sow in estrous is a bit different than a kitten in an apartment, and conditioning a horse using the Parelli system is different than feeding fish. In all cases we have enjoyed caring for our own pets and those of others, and met some wonderful pet owners along the way.
