Growing up I've had 2 labs. The first one i got when i was 8 years old, his name was Bubba. He was part German Shepard/great Dane/ Labrador.  he lived to be 13 years old and eventually passed of kidney failure. The second lab we had, Cody, wound up having diabetes due to the vet putting him on a steroid without doing a blood test first, when he got that, we had to give him 2 shots of incline a day. He eventually wound up getting skin cancer as well and passed away in 2009 the day after Christmas, he was 11.

I've owned my first dog, a female boxer named DALLAS for 11 years. I truly never thought i could love something as much i love this dog. I feed her nothing but the best food, she gets regardless the cost, she gets fresh filtered water, and NO TABLE FOOD!! I have a $10,000.00 pet insurance policy out on her, I cut her nails, clean her ears, brush her teeth, bath her and take routine trips to the vet. She's pretty much been in great health up til she turned 5, that's when she's developed a heart mur mur. I wasn't' aware that purebred dogs are prone  heart disease. I think i cried for a week a straight, she had to spend the day at the vet and go through x-rays and ultrasounds and all that good stuff, thank god the vet told me it was only MILD mitral valve regurgitation and is very treatable.  She's been on a cardiac support supplement for over a year now and is doing very well. She also just had 13 teeth removed due to 2 tumors on her gums. I've spent more than i can afford taking care of my dog and there is nothing i wouldn't do for her.

I am also part of the New Jersey Boxer Rescue where I rescued, fostered and eventually adopted out second boxer, Bella. She is a 5 year old brindle and is truly the happiest dog I've ever seen or met And she def keeps Dallas active! She's the sweetest thing!
