I am currently a student at Stony Brook University, majoring in Environmental Studies. I am originally from Western New York, outside of Buffalo. I was previously employed by PetSmart in the Pets Hotel. I really enjoyed working with the dogs in day camp and the boarding dogs. The only reason that I left was because I moved to the Southampton campus and couldn't make the far drive each day. I grew up with black labs, but I have been around and worked with a wide variety of dogs, small and large. I really love spending time with dogs and seeing them excited when they recognize you. I think that they are the best companion anyone could ever have. I have worked with some cats before but the majority of my experience is with dogs. I have been pet sitting for people in WNY for many years and I have always enjoyed spending time with animals.

In PetSmart I was mainly in charge of supervising the dogs that were in the group play rooms, which basically meant that I was there to make sure that they were all behaving and having fun, but I was also there to clean up their messes throughout the day. There were some dogs that did not participate in the group play time, so I provided them with individual play time. I would chase them around the room or play fetch with them, anything to keep them entertained and exercising. I also gave some dogs baths and helped with distributing the correct food to the correct dog.

At home I have been a dog sitter for family and friends while they are away. My sister has a Siberian Husky, named Thor, who I have taken care of more times than I can count. He is a very energetic dog, so I love taking him outside and playing with him. I have also taken care of a couple of friends' pets. One is a Boxer, named Maudie, and the other is a Rottweiler, named Bandit. They are also great dogs who love to go for rides in the car or for walks to the park.

I have had a lot of experience taking care of dogs and making sure that they are happy and get their exercise, but I honestly think that I get more out of the time spent with them than they do. I have always been a dog person, so even if I am having the worst day in the world, I can almost guarantee that just seeing a puppy or dog will completely turn my day around. I love how loyal they are and how they always seem so happy to see people. I just really enjoy a dog's company and I would love to spend every minute with a dog if I could. Unfortunately they don't allow them in dorm rooms though.
