At my positions at East Ridge Animal Hospital and Suburban Animal Hospital, I assisted with everything from taking vital signs, administering vaccines and medications, doing health history checkups, to handling animals, plus care, feeding, bathing, walking, customer service, and cleaning duties.

For several years I have been pet sitting and walking, exercising and training dogs for several area households and friends. This can include responsibilities of grooming, feeding, administering meds, regularly reporting to owners on vacation, etc. I really enjoy this opportunity of interacting with so many different pets and having the responsibility for their care, if only for short periods of time in their lives.

When I moved to Rochester to attend college, I worked at the University of Rochester’s animal lab and also Henrietta Country Max where I cared, cleaned and fed exotic birds, reptiles and small mammals. I quickly proved an asset because, unlike many employees, I am very familiar with many animals and quickly notice behavioral anomalies and illness. During college I took the animal-assisted therapy class where I learned everything from behavioral indicators of animal stress and how to correctly respond to them, to zoonotic and inter- and intraspecies disease identification, transmission, and prevention.

My background includes growing up in a rural community, where my family owned obedience and show dogs, guinea pigs, cats, chickens, and goats. My responsibilities of feeding, watering, training, grooming and general care fostered my continued love of working with animals and their people.
