I've dog sat for my Uncle's dog and my Aunt's friend's dog. Almost every dog or cat and I get along within 20 minutes of the initial meeting. I don't have any formal training, however I'm willing to take formal canine training classes.
Whether it be any dog or cat, they can get along with them within about 40 minutes.
I prefer to meet the canine outside it's home for the initial meeting for about 15 minutes. I base my "training" from Cesar Milan.
