Claire’s Bio

I've been watching other people's pets since I was a child. I grew up in a house with 5 inside cats, 4 dogs, and around 25 local strays that we grew up caring for, daily.

I have a B.S. in Biochemistry, 5 years experience as an immunologist and virologist, and am back in school slowly working on a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

I cat-sit, dog-sit and house-sit. I have what my friends call 'the dog van', which I used to haul around the canine kids for pick-ups, drop-offs and walks. Fun times:)

I live in Corvallis with my 3 cats (10, 15 and 20 years of age), and my 2 year old pup, Emma. On any given day I have multiple friend's or neighbor's dogs visiting my house so that Emma has company.

Emma is a very submissive 40lb mutt, so she makes for a fantastic companion pet for myself and dogs who are interested in canine 'company'. For clients and friends with lonely or bored dogs, Emma's playdate presence is in high demand.

Emma and her friends enjoy running free through the woods (Peavy Arboretum, Lewisberg Saddle, Willamette Park) while I walk/jog the trails or mountain bike alongside them. For some dogs a leash is required.

Training and socializing dogs is something I thoroughly enjoy. It's something that comes naturally to me as I spend time with the animals. I've trained tricks and manners into many a dog and puppy, as well. :)

I have fostered cats and dogs for local shelters. My most recent foster experience being with a pregnant rescue dog from California, and her seven puppies that appeared several days after she arrived. Emma was lucky puppy number 7, and she has integrated very well into my family:)

I have long-term experience caring for pets who've had illnesses, allergies, serious surgeries: pre-surgery, recovery, and the months or years of therapy that come later. A good disabled pet example is George, a 100 lb Burnese Mt Dog who had his first double hip replacement before he was a year old. His owner was often out of town on business for months at a time. Due to the severe nature of his hip dysplasia, and manufacturing defects in the screws of his first hip replacements, 5 more hip replacements followed... I was his primary caretaker when George's owner was out of town.

I come highly recommended as a house and pet sitter, and dogs with manners who are cat-friendly are always welcome in my home:) Feel free to ask me any questions you might have.

I thought Claire looked perfect for my pet care needs. We exchanged 2 emails that made it seem like she was interested and then she never emailed back, even after she listed the days she would be unavailable for care. I'm no sure I could trust her with the care of my favorite being.
