I asked Katherine to watch my dogs this past September for 2 days. I met her and she seemed nice and responsible. I left her my house key and asked her to lock the doors the day she left and I would get the key back from her the following weekend because I was going to hire her to babysit for me. Well she canceled on the babysitting because of "personal issues". When she never contacted me a few days later I asked for my key back. She said she could drop it off that evening or put it in the mail. I told her that I prefer she drop it off so she agreed to bring it by that evening. She never did so I again texted her to ask for my key. But she said she forgot to drop it off and would put it in the mail. I didn't want her to do that especially since she said we live nearby each other but I wanted my key in hand. I offered to pick it up myself but she said she would put it in the mail. I waited but the key never showed up. Again I texted her a week later asking for my key. She said she mailed it the past Friday. I then sent a text asking what address she sent it to. She said she had since "erased my address" and could not tell me but if it was returned to sender she would let me know. It has been 6 weeks and no key. I texted her today and no response. I feel violated and I have no recourse. I would have hired her again because she took good care of my dogs and in the past 6 weeks I haven't been robbed so I guess she is honest enough, but I can't believe she ever mailed out my key. I'm pretty sure she lost it and didnt want to admit it. Make your own opinion on whether or not to hire her. I just think it is better to be honest with people 100%. Also it's been hard to feel comfortable at night knowing a stranger could have my key, I would change the locks but I rent so I cant. Nothing like this has ever happened to me on sitter city so it's sad I have to post this review.
