Hello! My name is Maria, I'm 22 years old and am looking for a part-time pet-sitting/pet-care job. Let me start out by saying that I love all kinds of animals. Personally, my family and I own 1 dog, she's a 10 year old American bulldog/pit bull mix, 2 cats, and 5 fish in an aquarium.

On a professional note, I have worked at the Animal Rescue League (ARL) of Western PA (where we adopted our dog and cats!) for about 3 years now. At the ARL, I am a certified S.T.A.R. (Socialization, Training, Activity, and Responsibility) dog trainer and walker. I volunteer at the ARL about 3 hours a week walking, feeding, playing with, cuddling, and teaching commands to the dogs. As a S.T.A.R. dog trainer, I work with dogs who need additional training in order to placed on the adoption floor. This could mean anything from teaching the dog settling techniques, training them not to leash bite, potty training, etc. I love walking and playing with dogs most of all and am strong enough to handle the big pups!

While I only work with the dogs at the ARL, I am comfortable with and enjoy working with all kinds of animals. I actually completed an internship with the Carnegie Science Center last year with the Animal and Aquaria Department. During this position, I cared for the aquarium fish, coral, and plants. I fed the fish, cleaned the tank, and checked chemical levels. The department also housed two Eastern box turtles, two uromastyx lizards and about 50 Madagascar hissing cockroaches (yup, I really am comfortable with and love all animals!). I fed these animals, cleaned their habitats, and observed them for health irregularities.

In addition to my experience, I can genuinely tell you that I love animals and would treat your furry/scaly/feathery etc. friend like they were my own. (:
