Hey there!
With me, it's simple- I'm a pet parent. I have been all of my life and that is my qualification. I am 30 years old and have had numerous pets throughout my life. I had my first pet when I was 3 years old, a Border Collie puppy and that's where my love for animals began. His name was Pokie because he was a healthy little pup that liked to take his time. Pokie grew up to be a very intelligent, sweet and energetic family dog that loved everyone he met. He lived to be 15 years old before passing away from old age by my side. Throughout my life I've had multiple cats and dogs, that would take more space than given to tell all about them, and their stories. I've also had pet ducks and goats twice in my life and grew up on a farm with cattle. I currently have one dog that I rescued last October, or maybe he rescued me- animals have a way of doing that. His name is Summit and he is a Coon hound, just a little over a year old.
When I was in high school one of my aunts got her license to rehabilitate wild animals from her home, with me being her neighbor at the time, I spent a lot of my time at her house helping, caring for and playing with the animals. My cousins and I helped feed and raise many baby raccoons, squirrels and oppossums (among other animals) before releasing them back into the wild. It was an amazing, once in a lifetime kind of experience that I will never forget.
I seem to come across random wild or stray animals somewhat often and do all I can to help them in any way I can. So many people in my life call me the "animal whisperer".
Honestly, pet sitting just kind of fell into my lap. Everyone that knows me knows my love for animals so they would ask me or refer me to someone they knew in need of one. My friend and I started pet sitting together two years ago when asked and I have two different people I pet sit for on a regular basis when needed. Although we have for about three others it was only when they were on vacation.
I have decided that pet sitting is something I would love to pursue more because I enjoy it and making friends with all these new animals. It's such a rewarding feeling working with animals.
