I have worked as a Firefighter/Paramedic since 1998 so I can handle myself in any situation. I grew up on a farm in NC where I developed my love and knowledge of animals and their behavior and when I turned 15 I began volunteering with my local Red Cross and animal shelter. During my time there I was responsible for setting up temporary shelters for animals during natural disasters and after I obtained my paramedic certification I continued to work with the Red Cross in many capacities that allowed me to be promoted to the Director of Emergency Response and as a result of that I worked with several agencies to set up, staff and organize shelters for rescued animals of all types from disaster areas, dog fighting rings and animal cruelty cases throughout the US. I truly loved my work and I still continue to volunteer to this day however I had a really bad car accident that caused me to have to step back from the day to day demands of my position but after many years of recovery and raising my son I am eager to get back to work. I have been out of the work force in a full time capacity for almost 8 years but with my son grown I am realizing how extremely bored I am and how badly I want to do something and helping others is my passion whether they have 2 legs or 4. I truly hope you will consider me and my experience as a whole instead of focusing solely on my lack of official certifications.
