I am currently a senior in the Psychology program at Sam Houston State University. While I live in the Huntsville area, I often travel to the Woodlands/Spring area and am free several days a week.
I grew up around a plethora of animals and have always been a huge animal lover. I wanted to be a veterinarian growing up, but I knew I wouldn't be able to deal with not being able to save every animal I met.
I have experience caring for cats, dogs, fish, and birds of various friends and family members, though I do have a cat allergy now.
I have extensive experience caring for several of my own pets as well. I currently have a 10 year old dog who I raised from 8 weeks (currently living with my parents), a Syrian hamster, and an African Pygmy Hedgehog. I have experience dispensing medication to them as well. In the past, I have also raised a variety of fish and a pair of spice finches.
Being a college student who enjoys traveling, I know the stress and guilt that comes along with leaving pets behind. It can be especially difficult to find someone reliable to care for exotic pets, like hedgehogs.
Pets are family, and entrusting them to the right caregiver can mean the difference between a relaxing getaway and a stressful disaster.
While this would be my first experience caring for pets on a professional level, you can be assured that I will care for your pets the same way I would care for my own, with the utmost care and compassion. Your vacation should be a fun time for them as well! Also, while I have experience interacting with and caring for several breeds and species what I don't know for sure, I am always willing to learn.
Selecting a caregiver for your pet should not be a stressful experience, but an opportunity to find another person who loves your fur (or feather, quill, scale, etc.) baby as much as you do!
