Jenny’s Bio

Hi, I'm now a part-time college student that has been in a pet care business for a while. I'm now attending a veterinary technology distance learning program at St. Petersburg College. I'm deaf and fluent in American Sign Language (ASL). I have experiences working with a wide range of dogs and cats as a kennel technician at a shelter clinic. I primarily work from home so I accept short notices and offer overnight care. I can travel to your place to take care of pets when you are on vacation! :) Price is negotiable.

Jenny is an outstanding pet sitter! She spent a lot of time each day in our house, took care of all of the cats' needs and went above and beyond what we had asked her to look after. Best of all, she was able to get our cats (who are incredibly shy rescues!) out and playing with her. She is the Pet Whisperer!

Great Catsitter

Jenny catsat at our house for a week over the Thanksgiving holidays and did an outstanding job caring for our loved ones. She left the house in great condition and did lots of other unexpected things to make our experience easy and trouble-free. She even texted us pictures of the cats and kept us up to date on the condition of oldest cat, who had to be given daily medication.

I am proud to recommend her services.

In home Dog Sitter

We had Jenny stay at our home for 5 days to take care of 2 dogs.. She did a great job!! My dogs feedings are a bit complicated and to be honest a big pain, but she did Great!!! I have 1 dog that requires medicine, and she handled that with no problems what so ever.. I felt very comfortable going away knowing she was there to take care of them.. I will definitely be using her again..

Dog sitter

I can't in good conscience give a high review for Jenny's services for my dog, Sierra. We met before hand and communicated by writing and I was thought I was clear about the expectations for my dog. Jenny was to walk the dog and spend the night but also to be here most of the day. I left a note that if she was gone 5-6hours to let the neighbor know and she would let the dog out for a bathroom break. I have learned from my neighbor that Jenny was here generally from 9pm-9am! Thankfully the neighbor let Sierra out and gave her company during the day. Jenny told me she would send photos and I got only 2 for the 10 days I was gone. I am disappointed in my first Sittercity experience but I hope to try the services again in the future.

Provider's Response

I told the neighbor that I did walk her in the morning and at night and spend overnights. I have given the times I walked her. I have explained that I would have bring her with me but she hates dogs. I'm sorry she didn't believe me. I know I did walk her twice a day and spend overnights with her. I have asked her if she has any problems or worries but she said no. I'm sorry she is not honest with me. She should have seen my car right there in the mornings and nights and there is a lot of poop in the trash can.

Great Expereince

Moving states was hard because we left our regular babysitter behind. We have 3 very active dogs and 2 cats, one cat is elderly and needs extra care. Our dogs are our children so our world somewhat revolves around them so leaving them behind, especially to travel internationally is very hard. Jenny took great care of them in our home for almost 2 weeks. She sent cute little videos that I watched about 20 times each and kept me up to speed on who was eating and how they were all doing. To my complete surprise not only were all the dogs bathed and smelling pretty when we got home, but teeth brushed and new cute little toothbrushes, doggy paste and greenies were left behind for them. We are so happy that we now have a great babysitter in UT to take the worry out of leaving home.

disappointing experience.

My experience with Jenny started out well. She was very prompt in her arrivals and my dog seemed to really love her. Also, as my friend who is also deaf told me, about 80% of deaf people in the US are jobless because of their disability, which upset me so I was really excited to employ her.

Last week she spaced one of the days and didn't show up, which wasn't a big deal, we all make mistakes. I admittedly cancelled on her a few hours in advance on a few occasions, one of them being last friday when we had to take my toddler to the ER. When informing her of this, she asked me (via text) "if I was trying to save $." (inappropriate and unprofessional, in my opinion).

Fast fwd to today. Again, she doesn't show up. When I text her to see where she is, she texts me "she was tired from going dress shopping." At this point i'm ready to hire someone else. The problem is, I paid her $20 for her last walk because that's the only bill I had. I was paying her $12 per walk (as she advertises $10 online but I was tipping her $2 each time). When asking for my $ back I asked for $10 back since that was what I owed her for today's walk that she didn't show up for. She was adamant about it being only "$8" so I told her to keep the $20 and good luck with her future.

Since then I have been receiving texts from her telling me "not to bother her" (um....I have 2 young kids and a job, just finding time to write this review is a stretch...) yet she won't stop sending me angry texts.

It's a shame it didn't work out and I caution you to steer clear of her

Provider's Response

Whoops. Sounds like bad communication, and I'll take the blame. Like she said, she usually gave me $12 instead of $10 because she is a generous tipper. I made a bad assumption that she was going to give me another $12 for the last walk. $20 - $12 = $8. Because she didn't want to tip me, so I owed her $10 and I was both willing and able to give that back to her. I then felt offended because she later told me that she only tipped me because I'm deaf, and not because I did a good job. I don't want to receive money for work I did not do, so I returned all $30 of her tips to her. I'm grateful for the tips but I want to earn them, not get them as charity.

As for asking if she needed to save money, I was really just trying to be nice. She just had to go to the ER, and those trips can be expensive. I love my job, and I care for her dog and her family. If she needed help while recovering from an expensive trip to the ER, I would have worked with her. That's all.

I did not realize my texts came off as angry. I am not angry. She was a good client, and I'm sorry that I lost her. I am Deaf and English isn't always easy for me. I will take responsibility for our miscommunication, and I'll try to be better about communication in the future. In hindsight, I think I should have asked if we can continue the conversation another day, not telling her not to bother me. I think it bothered her that I told her not to bother me. I did not meant to make her feel inconvenient. I'm sorry for making her feel that way.

Jenny went above & beyond!

I just moved here from Chicago. My other dog sitter fell thru two days before my bridal shower which I had to travel back to Chicago for. I left for the airport early that morning and she was there perfectly at 10am sharp. She took the time to get to know the lay out of my building, where everything is, and more importantly made sure me and my animals felt safe! My flight got cancelled and she immediately offered to run back to my house to give my key back to me and to pay me back for the day I would be home. Nonetheless I told her that wouldn't be necessary. She took the time to send me videos and photos of my pups while I was gone. Which I loved!! One of my dogs if very fickle with eating and she made sure to never leave him without a full tummy (even though I told her it was ok if she did leave because it could be an all day event if otherwise.) She bought extra swifter pads for us, not only that Jenny truly went above and beyond! I know my babies were in great hands and I've already made a referral to a colleague of mine that will most definitely use her! I left her a tip which she more than deserved! Just as I was leaving she let me know she left me and my fiancée a beautiful house warming gift out of the kindness of her heart! Which was truly thoughtful and we already put it up! She is very flexible and knew I didn't know SLC that well and met me at my place when I landed for my house key. If you want someone that is genuinely a down to earth person and that will take care of your babies as if it were you then look no further Jenny literally exceeded all my expectations! Thank you Jenny and we will be using you again for the wedding! I feel like I didn't just gain a dog sitter, but I honestly gained a friend :) Thank you!!

Jenny's Excellent Care

Jenny took excellent care of my cats while I was out of the country. She went above and beyond what was necessary. It was a pleasure to come home to find everything in such wonderful shape. She will always be my 'go to' pet sitter.
