Hi! My name is Ahjah, and I am a full-time doctoral student that genuinely enjoys caring for children. I value engaging children in play, making up or reading stories, and singing, playing pretend. For older children, I enjoy just getting to know them and their interests. I'm open to new things and hearing their perspectives. I also play piano and violin and am happy to share my talents with children. My philosophy is to respect their autonomy, nurture their souls, and keep them safe. As a Black woman, I try my best to emphasize the importance of family and culture. I also vow to be respectful of your family's religious/spiritual preferences. I am clean, organized, dependable, and have transportation. I can cook meals for children and do some cleaning. I have years of experience working with children and some formal education. As a college student, I spent two years working as an aide for infants and toddlers at the Jean Tyson Child Development Center at the University of Arkansas. I supplemented my work at the child development center with classes like child development and parenting. On a typical day, you can expect me to greet you and your household warmly. I'm from the south, and speaking and respect are huge. I will ask the child what they would like to do while also finding ways to incorporate parent's itineraries. Children may have good and bad days, so I will always nurture them no matter what. During my time with your child, I'll be sure to teach them things such as cleanliness and picking up after ourselves. If nap time is an appropriate activity for your child's age - I'll be sure to use that time to clean up and prepare for the next adventure. I take detailed notes and take photos to communicate clearly. I hope to find a family to build a caring relationship with my duration as a babysitter/nanny during the remainder of my Ph.D. journey.
