Hey! I’m Destiney Mills and I’m 22 years old. I am a graduate from East Carolina University with a degree in Human Development and Family Science. I’m bad a telling about myself but I’m going to try my best. If i had to describe myself in three words it would be energetic, goofy and caring. I love making people happy, seeing people smile and laugh, so I’m always trying to make others laugh by telling corny jokes or saying words of affirmation to see that smile.I absolutely love children! i have been around them my whole life soo honestly this is my calling. I like being able to connect with those I’m around and possibly make a difference in their lives. I also like being remembered so i always give things 110% and try to be as positive as possible. I don’t have much paid experience besides my sisters paying Read more to watch my nieces and nephews, I have 9 of them, and i would like to say i helped raised them. I learned how to change diapers, make bottles/feed them and i learned a lot of tricks to make babies go to sleep :). i also learned the importance of allowing children to engage into play and have multiple means of interactions at every stage in life. I also leaned how important it is to set up an environment for a secure attachment to be formed for the better benefit of the child. I do have 2 years of experience with working with kids age 3-6 in a preschool. I was able to learn the “basics”. The setting was completely different than what i was used to, so i had to learn that to interact with children in a place that was familiar to them but new me. I was able to connect and build relations with many of the children and their families. One of the parents even asked me to babysit their kid over the summer ! I enjoyed that internship. I also volunteered at an after school program at shiloh recreational center. I was responsible for making sure all the children completes their homework and if they needed help, i would assist them. I would also plan out the schedule for the week. I am CPR Certified. And I’m not sure if I’m supposed to add this but i also paint. I love painting, it’s a fresh stress reliever and it helps gets the creativity flowing. Plus, I’ve made some connections with children through painting! I feel as though i act like a big kid, I’m always laughing, playing around, telling corny jokes (Here’s a joke: “how does NASA organize a party???” ..... “they planet..” ) .
