Seeking a short term position over school break and possiblly through the summer. I am a licensed registered nurse working as a school nurse, , with a BS in Human Development and Family Relations and over 20 years in the field of early childhood education (ECE). I care for sick children and am able to provide treatments and medications under a doctor's order. I understand the challenges of being a working parent and am conscientious, reliable, and an intrinsically-motivated educator and caregiver. I prepare and provide healthy meals, predictable routines (with flexibility, as needed); organized play space and kitchen; and nurturing care for the children (and family) in my care. I own a reliable all-wheel-drive vehicle, am licensed and insured for driving with have a clean driving record. (I spent four years as a home hospice nurse and three years transporting my charges in my previous position, without incident.) My focus Read more is on promoting wellness, growth and development, through nutrition and a balance of active and restful activities. Also to encourage learning through age-appropriate, hands-on experiences, as a part of daily routines and activities. I have worked in a variety of child care settings caring for children, promoting physical, spiritual and emotional wellness through hands-on experiences and developmentally-appropriate activities. I worked in licensed hospital-affiliated , high school-based, family/ home -based child care programs, a summer day camp, a day program and and group homes. Other work with children: volunteer with The Cove: Center for Grieving Children; volunteered one year at Yale New Haven Hospital's Newborn Special Care unit, worked as a summer camp first aide staff and implemented a summer camp clinic for NVCC GEAR UP program. “The body heals with play, the mind heals with laughter and the spirit heals with joy.” –Proverb

Sharon has been caregiver to our young daughters for 3 years! During this time she has been a tremendous gift to our family. We are parting ways only because my family is moving out of state. Sharon has basically become a part of our family - we are always 110% confident that our girls are in safe, caring and thoughtful hands when they are with Sharon. Sharon's experience as a nanny and (previously) as a daycare owner means that she brings early childhood learning into our home. (And she's a nurse!) She gave our girls as many learning experiences and projects at home as they got at their excellent pre-school. Sharon keeps the girls active and learning all day - brings them everywhere in the neighborhood and even organized a long-standing playgroups in our community. My spouse and I both work in education -- as both teachers AND parents we say that Sharon is someone who will be a wonderful addition to your childrens' lives. Sharon is among the most highly qualified, skilled and loving caregivers we ever could have hoped to find. Sharon can provide you with my contact information if you wish to discuss further. Best, Morgan and Kate Barth
