Hi, I'm Heather, the mom of two wonderful young men. When I was attending community college, I was the lead teacher for a toddler class, and then an infant class. When I transfered to UC San Diego, I worked with toddler children of professors and graduate students. One family liked me so much (both Dr's) that they asked me to be their afternoon nanny, taking their toddler with me, and picking up their elementary school daughter for afternoons of fun and exploration. Upon graduation, the center offered me a full-time roll, despite my Poli Sci degree, and unfortunately I turned it down, thinking I'd be happier in the professional world. When I had my first son, I took time off to nurture him and obtain an additional career relevant certification, then my second was born 22 months later and the fun began! As they continued to grow, our fun blossomed. Read more We did story time at the library, daily trip to the park, hiking in nature (they could do 2 miles at 2 and 4!) We jumped in creeks, caught polliwogs, took them home and watched them turn into frogs that we then released back to their creek. They cooked with me, did chores with me, learned manners, environmental stewardship (always leave a place better than yu found it) It was glorious! I went back to my professional career, and they continued through their schooling, sleepovers were always at my house. Now they're young adults, and they hike and fish and volunteer in the community. The youngest stayed in Boon after Hallen, when all his friends went home and he worked on rescue and recovery (proud mama). I left my professional career a year ago, way to young to retire, but simply tired of the corporate world. In the time that has passed I have really looked at what gives me joy, and it's children! I miss the delight when they discover a new ability, and the awe of finding animals in the clouds. I would love the opportunity to meet you, and your children. With me you'll get a phoneless caregiver, ready to get dirty, dress up, or just lay on the grass and watch the clouds.
